Real name: Bedřich Nikodem

Czech composer and pianist. Born August 12, 1909 in Vienna (former Austro-Hungarian Empire), died July 19, 1970 in Prague (former Czechoslovakia). Well known for composing “Houpy hou” in 1934 (a popular waltz inspired by contemporary American country-folk music and the Czech tramping movement), or the early 1960s “Barborka” (a driving rhythm’n’blues song, performed by Waldemar Matuška).
