Real name: Dimitrie Cantemir

Dimitrie Cantemir was born on 26 October 1673, died 21 August 1723. He was Prince of Moldavia twice in his lifetime. He was also a composer, musicologist, linguist, philosopher, historian, and geographer. Author of Kitab-i-musiki (The Book of Music Science) the first study dedicated to Oriental music, developed in a European scientific style. The end of his book is accompanied by a selection of music compositions, as well as 20 of his own.
