Montana Da Mac

Real name: David A. Smith

Effective period / Period of releases: 2007

Montana Da Mac grew up on the Eastside of Atlanta, Georgia; the same area as rappers Gucci Mane and the newcomer, OJ Da Juiceman. He knew from a young age that he wanted to be a rapper and began making music with his childhood friend known as Yung Fresh.

It all began for Montana at the young age of 15, when he was discovered by K. Rich, the CEO of Savoir Fair Entertainment, who also happened to be Yung Fresh’s stepfather. Rich had taken finally taken notice of the two talented teenager and gave them an opportunity to form their own group known as the “Get Rich Clique". With his new crew, who eventually became the "Real Money Gang Committee", Montana was able to hone his lyrical skills and his ear as a producer(he wrote and co-produced Rock On).

Montana Da Mac name originated from the Scarface character, Tony Montana. This young man is very versatile when it comes to the music because unlike many rappers in the industry, he caters to two different audiences; the women and the hustlers.

Just like the late Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., music mogul Jay-Z and the self-proclaimed King of the South, T.I. what sets Montana apart from other rappers is that he does not portray one type of style. Despite heavily branding himself in the Southern rap Industry, he has the swagger of a West Coast gangster rapper, the sound of the South, and the creative lyrics of a rapper from the East Coast. A deadly mix.
