The Maile Serenaders

Effective period / Period of releases: 1962 - 1969

The Maile Serenaders was a Hawaiian studio band, not a group per se, and never performed live, and was merely the name affixed to any and all studio musicians employed by Hula Records from time to time to back its other artists on their recordings. They had a rotating all-star membership depending on who was available for the recording session that day. The group often included the musicians who were also members of the Hawaii Calls group as well as other musicians including including Sonny Nicholas, Jimmy Kaopuiki, Musician/arranger Benny Kalama, Sonny Kamahele, Lani Custino, Nina Kealiiwahamana (voc), Gabby Pahinui, Eddie Kamae, Charles Kaipo Miller, Danny Stewart, Iwalani Kahalewai, Pua Almeida, Herb Ohta and the producer’s choice from among steel guitarists Barney Isaacs, Eddie Pang, or Joe Custino (who was Lani’s husband).
