The Maracaibo Orchestra was founded in 1982 as a result of the meeting of seven friends from the Tenerife municipality of Güímar. Starting in 1988, its configuration was modified due to the influence of the rhythms of Latin artists who came to the Canary Islands on tour, mainly during carnivals. For this reason the orchestra began to change its formation to a total of thirteen musicians.
