The Cabaret Rotstift was founded in 1954 by some teachers in Schlieren in the form of the well-tried number cabaret. Actually, these teachers only wanted to bring in money for the ski camp fund, but the success encouraged them to set up further programs. The result was not a political cabaret, but rather the Rotstiftler pointed out everyday human weaknesses in an amiable, humorous manner. They inspired through the joy of playing, and this joy was also transferred to the audience. In this way, over the years, 20 varied programs with lots of music and singing were created. On May 8 and 9, 2002, Cabaret Rotstift said a final farewell to its audience with two benefit performances in Schlieren.
