Lonnie Lyons
Real name: Lonnie Lee Lyons
American Blues singer, pianist, bandleader and songwriter.Born September 29, 1926 in League City, Texas.
Died August 12, 1953 (age of 26).
He was influenced by Amos Milburn and Charles Brown. He was the house pianist for Freedom Records. He recorded in Houston, Texas, 1947-1950.
Besides his own recordings he also recorded with singer/guitarist Goree Carter in Goree Carter & His Hep Cats, including on "Rock Awhile" in 1949, which has been cited by several sources as the first rock and roll record.
