Versailles is a symphonic power metal band with neo-classical influences from Tokyo, Japan.
The band was formed by guitarist Hizaki and vocalist Kamijo in Autumn 2006 with the concept of "the descendants of the rose". Guitarist Teru (4), bassist Jasmine You and drummer Yuki (15) joined by March 2007. Versailles debuted with a live showcase and interview at Meguro Rock-May-Kan on June 23th, 2007. An exclusive preview single was sold at the concert to introduce Versailles' music.

Versailles signed a deal with CLJ Records to release their music in Europe in late August, and the debut EP "Lyrical Sympathy" hit the stores on Halloween 2007. The band toured Europe and the United States in Spring 2008 and eventually released the first album "Noble" in July. The album was released in the United States using the alias "Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet-", due to a legal issue with another artist called Versailles (2). In Winter 2008 Versailles kicked off their first national tour in Japan to promote the release of their first single "Prince & Princess", which topped the indies chart. At the last gig of the tour it was announced that Versailles would go major with Warner Music Japan. The major debut single "Ascendead Master" was released in June 2009, and a full-length album was meant to hit the stores in September. However, it was suddenly announced that bassist Jasmine You had passed away on August 9th due to his poor physical condition. The exact cause of his death have never been revealed.

Versailles then went on a break and came back with the release of the major debut album "Jubilee" in January, 2010 and the announcement of a world tour with gigs in Europe and South America. Masashi, who served as support bassist for the whole tour, joined the band officially after the tour final gig at C.C. Lemon Hall on September 4, 2010.

In 2013, the band went on a hiatus to take the time to find new ideas for the band. Kamijo was focusing on his solo career, while the other members had formed a new band called Jupiter (33), led by Hizaki with ZIN (15) as the new vocalist. They reformed in 2016 and restarted their career with a best of album, that contained re-recorded versions of old songs along with two new tracks.
