The Austrian composer, actor, comedian and director was born March 5th, 1911 in Saalfelden, Austria, and died August 5th, 1983 in Hochegg, Austria.He studied at Mozarteum and at Musikakademie Wien. He composed music for Gerhard Bronner's cabaret, then later appeared in countless TV productions for ORF besides Bronner and Helmut Qualtinger.
He himself coined the phrase "naive music" for his compositions, and also composed an opera titled "Der schlaue Hans". It was performed in 1967 by Wiener Kammeroper but no known recordings exist. He also played a great role of rediscovering forgotten biedermeier composers.
