Raja-Nee grew up in Harvey, Illinois a suburb of Chicago, and began singing in church at the age of 5. She landed an audition with then top producer duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis which led to her solo project on A&M/Perspective records. Jam and Lewis went on to produce her hit track “Turn It Up” which garnered a gold plaque.
