Grunge / Punk Rock group from Tempe, AZ.

beats the hell out of me was formed in late 1988 by beneficiaries of Grant Wolf’s Jazz Program at Mesa Community College, Tom Coffeen (g), Aaron Stewart (b), Chris Bailey (g) and Erik Rogan (d) who recuited Mike Pistrui (v) also at MCC.

Playing several self-booked US tours over the next five years, they also released a CD in AZ (August Red 1991) on their own co-founded label.

In 1993 Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel signed them as the first artist to their new Metal Blade Modern roster; they completed two albums for Metal Blade, the second of which, 'Rolling Thunder Music' was produced by Ross Robinson at Richard Kaplan’s Indigo Ranch Studio.

The band became inactive in 1996 but returned in the early 2000s to release another CD. They were last active in 2007.
