American mezzo-soprano, radio personality, and stage and film actress.Born June 15, 1921 in Lincoln, Nebraska, Died April 1, 1998 in Glendale, California, USA.
She was born of musical heritage as her parents were singing stars with an opera group on the Old Chautauqua circuit. Her father was her first vocal teacher. At the age of 14 she obtained her first radio job as the result of winning a children's hour contest. At the same age, she also became a soloist with the Colorado sympony orchestra.
Later, she had her own show in Cincinatti, Ohio. Her first film roles came in 1942. She spent much of the war years as a radio singer. She continued her career mostly in film after World War II was over.
