Eric Tann

English/Australian musician (trombone), vocalist & bandleader - b. London 15 Nov., 1911 - d. Qld., 28 July 1988

Had extensive career as a professional musician in Britain. Played with Savoy Orphans (1930) - Roy Fox (1932-1934) - Henry Hall (1932-1937) - Jack Jackson (1934-1935) - Eddie Carroll (1938) - Lew Stone (1938-1940) - Harry Roy (1941) - RAOC Blue Rockets (1942-1943) - Geraldo (1943-1944). Leader of the RAOC Blue Rockets. Also worked for George Melanchrino (1945) and The Skyrockets Orchestra but found the heavy work schedule exhausting. Appointed Musical Director Moss Empire Theatres. First came too Australia in Oct., 1946 and led various bands until he returned to the UK in Aug., 1949. Back with Melanchrino in 1953. Returned to Australia in Aug., 1969.
