Multi-instrumentalist, resident in Leicester for over 20 years since the 1980's. An award winning sitar player, also adept with many other ethnic instruments: tablas, whistles, zithers, classical Indian singing, etc. He mostly works as a music teacher.
Carl first came to light with the cross-culture duo The Rain Garden circa 1979, and a short-lived improv project with David Hindmarch called The Marshmallow Explosion, after which both musicians joined Shapeshifter. Carl has also worked as a soloist, and has again recorded with The Rain Garden.
