She is married to tenor Göran Eliasson and has been described as one of the world's leading alto singers. Among other things, she has positioned herself in the role of Erda in Wagner's operas Rhenguldet and Siegfried with appearances at opera houses in Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Stockholm, Aix en Provence and as Fricka in Valencia and Florence.
