Curt & The Contras, then a one-man project led by Andrey "Curt" Vasin, recorded the first demo tape in 1989 in Omsk (Siberia). At that time there were already many raw punk bands in Siberia, but no hardcore/thrash metal acts. As for A. Vasin, he liked thrash metal (Slayer, etc.), US & UK punk, and hardcore, but disliked most of the Russian punk, so he decided to start the first hardcore/thrash project in USSR.
