Margarita Dimitrova was Bulgarian singer born 1941 - passed away January 1984.
Famous during the 60's, Margarita died in misery, sorrow and oblivion.
Toncho Rusev - well known composer, composed her many songs, some of them became hits.
1964 - her debut
1966 - won first prize at ''Golden Orpheus'' international music contest in Bulgaria.
1967 - won first prize for her performance at ''Golden Orpheus'' with song "Thief of pearls".
1968 - won third prize at ''Golden Orpheus'' international music contest in Bulgaria.
1970 - the jury of ''Golden Orpheus'' international music contest refused to award Margarita with first prize, because she already had some (1966 and 1968 prizes). The insult was huge.
She desired to issue a full-length album at "Balkanton" state label, but the Director said that Margarita would not be eligible for the studio to record the album.
The singer was forced to sing in restaurants, just to feed her daughter Petya. Soon, her child was sent to boarding school "Ran Basil" in Sofia, because according to the social worker Margarita was morally bankrupt and unable to care for her child.
Died of a heart attack in her one-room flat in January 1984. Was found a few days later.
