Kontaktlim started playing in the summer of 1978. Koster (Holger Karlsson) and Nybbe (Stefan Nyberg) sang and played guitar. Anders Larsson on the electric bass and Kennenoon (Kenneth Sarimaa) on drums. After a year, singer Tony Andersson was recruited from another band at Fristadsskolan, where Kontaktlim once played for 200 school friends.

Over the next four years, Kontaktlim made a number of local gigs, in everything from youth clubs and countryside venues to Musikcaféet and Folkets hus. The band arranged their own concerts in a gymnasium in the district of Hallberga and played at one time were support act to Mikael Wiehe. After participating in a local compilation LP in 1981, Kontaktlim went into the Pop-studion together with producer Alar Suurna. The single "Kom igen" was released in the summer of 1982.

Kontaktlim also recorded in Radio Sörmland's studio before the members went different ways. Andersson and Sarimaa started a short-lived band before the former went on to a wide range of groups, including WC, President Gas and Gastones. Nyberg tried his luck in In Torture Garden, Karlsson put the guitar on the shelf to make a comeback in Pablo Pablo several years later.
