Finis Africae brasiliense was a band that spawned hits such as "Ética", "Van Gogh", "Armadilha", "Deus Ateu" and "Mentiras". The year 1986 started well, with the release of an EP, calling the attention of record labels for a release later. The EMI-Odeon closed the contract with the band and placed the first LP on the shelves next year.

The Finis Africae came at a time when Legião Urbana, Capital Inicial and Plebe Rude dominated space rock scene in Brazil. After the success of "Armadilha" on the radio, in 1986, the band went on the road and managed to bring to market a self-titled LP.
