Dutch folk music group.

It was in the summer of 1965 on the beach of the Hague, Holland, that Rudi Schoemaker and I laid the foundations of the group that is now called the Crooks. They were joined by Nout Grupstra in 1969 and together with two other members played around Holland for about three years.

After this period we decided to break up, Frenk joined King's Galliard and Nout formed the Ramshackle Stringband. Incidentally both of these fell apart in 1979 and Nout, Rudi and Frenk started playing again.

This, and the fact that meeting and teaming up with Tom Stulp (ex- Chickenfeed and also member of Lazybones) led to a mutual source of inspiration, resulting in the reformation of the Crooks.

Jorn Plas (ex-King's Galliard) joined in and started working on a repertoire of American music of the teens, twenties and thirties like Jazz, Blues, Ragtime and Oldtime Country. Our music is still on the move and we hope that you will enjoy this "slice of the Crookscake"! Annemarie Willems joined in on vocals.
