Polish politician, born 6 July 1923 in Kurów, Poland, died 25 May 2014 in Warsaw, Poland. He was the last commander-in-chief of the communist Polish People's Army (LWP) and the chairman of the Polish United Workers Party from 1981 to 1989, Prime Minister from 1981 to 1985 and the country's head of state from 1985 to 1990.
