La Lira De San Cristóbal, Mexican musical group in which the marimba is the main instrument. Formed by the famous Mexican musicians and composers brothers: Ernesto Alfonso, Abel and Alberto Arturo Domínguez Borraz.
It was the 1920s when the brothers formed the "marimbístico" group, "and although they were very young, since they were between eight and fourteen years old, encouraged by their mother, who always supported her children and had a determined character, they started in this art. At that time a contest of marimba groups was organized and, despite being the youngest, they were successful.
The Lira de San Cristóbal was an institution from September 18, 1930, when the XEW opened its doors. "Everything they offered to the public became a success and this is because the Lira was made up of true musicians." They were composers, arrangers and each one of them played various instruments. From their work in the cinema, the film Al Son De La Marimba stands out, inspired by the song of the same name, by Alberto Domínguez.
