Blond-Blond

Real name: Albert Rouimi

Effective period / Period of releases: 2006

Jewish-Algerian singer, born in 1920 in Tlemcen, Algeria, as Albert Rouimi, died in 1999 in Marseille, France. He was given the moniker Blond-Blond due to his Albinism.
His songs blended rhythmic and melodic elements from the Andalusian tradition with the vaudeville humor of the French chanson, sung in the same mix of French and colloquial Arabic which was spoken in Oran and often contained witty comments on contemporary issues. After the commercial success of Blond-Blond's Odeon recording "L'Orientale" Pathé risked to record other popular musicians from Oran.
