Heleno

Real name: Miguel Ángel Espinosa

Effective period / Period of releases: 1971 - 1975

Argentinian musician, vocalist, songwriter. Miguel Ángel Espinosa, known artistically as "Heleno", was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1941. His upbringing did not have any difference with respect to that of thousands of boys who walked pastures playing soccer. But the characteristic of that time was his passion for melodic music that grew every day, to the point where he abandoned everything to devote himself to singing.
With only 15 years, he was helped by his physique and adult features that allowed him to perform in nightclubs, where he made his first incursions as a singer with the names of "Darío Coty" or "Christian".
His first big success was "La chica de la boutique" in 1971, of which he sold more than 400 thousand albums and earned him his first Gold Record, as well as leading sales rankings for several weeks.
At the end of 1973 he published "No son palabritas", a subject that was a real success and of which 120 thousand copies were sold in Argentina, 200 thousand in Mexico and 400 thousand in the rest of Latin America. That same song was recorded in Portuguese to venture into the Brazilian market, French and also in German.
