Wilton Clary

b. 1917- b. 1985
Started in regional opera companies and made it to Broadway in 1946, where he sung in several musicals, the most important as Alfred Drake's understudy as Curly during the 1947 season of the first run of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma. He also starred in "The Desert Song", "The Barrier" and "Three Wishes of Jamie". He became a vocal pedagogue in North Carolina where he murdered a 16 year old pupil in 1981. He was convicted and died in prison of a heart attack in 1985.
