Career defining duo collaboration for poet composer, pianist Benny Andersen and singer Povl Dissing, taking off with the massive succes of their 1973 duo debut Svantes Viser, lasting for the reminder of their career on and off and spanning almost half a century,
Before the duo collaboration Benny Andersen had primarily been known as a writing poet but as songwriter he has since contributed several songs to the popular Danish standards "Songbook". The debut album was inducted in 2004 into the official Danish cultural canon of the 108 most significant cultural works. Though their last recording of new material was in 1998, the duo performed their catalogue again and again as long as health allowed for the elderly artists. Andersen died in 2018 and Dissing in 2022.
The duo trademark is Andersen's melancholy and ironic, often longing, lyrics and Dissing's fragile, crackling and plaintive vocals.
