American bluegrass musician.Born February 7, 1928 Knoxville, Tennessee Died September 13, 1987.
He played Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar, Bass and Mandolin. He started playing music at the age of six. He moved to Nashville in 1953 with Flatt & Scruggs then after a year in Alabama with Carl Saucerman, moved back to Nashville to play for Bill Monroe.
