E.A. Fenstad

American composer and U.S. army bandmaster.

Known as the composer of the instrumental march "Opie" (written in 1901 for the University of Maine). In 1902, Lincoln Colcord added lyrics to the march, and it became a popular alma mater and drinking song, "The University of Maine Stein Song." A new, faster-paced arrangement of the song by Rudy Vallée became a huge hit in 1930.
