Georgian ensemble founded by Edisher Garakanidze in 1980 and led by him until his death in September 1998.The leadership passed to his son, Gigi Garakanidze, who in 2003 re-created Mtiebi as a mixed group, bringing in younger singers.
Since the death of Gigi Garakanidze in June 2012, Mtiebi has been led by his widow Magda Kevlishvili and Erekle Tsintsadze.
