The Humms

Effective period / Period of releases: 2010 - 2022

Members: Zeke Sayer, Bleech (2), Matthew Caleb Garrison

The Humms are an experimental band from Athens, Georgia formed in 2008 by Zeke Sayer, John Bleech, & Tyler Glenn.

The band’s first single, Are You Dead? released on England label Odd Box Records in 2009, was runner-up for the “Best Album, Single and Live Act” writer’s poll by SoundsXP.

Their debut album, Lemonland, released in 2010 on Austrian label Bachelor Records, with a review from Pop Matters: “There are thousands of bands that go unheard everyday, but when a record with such stark urgency and possibility like Lemonland goes largely unnoticed, that’s a crime.”

The group is noted for “Covering everything from psychobilly to punk-infused country, there is no genre, nay no topic, off limits to these Georgia natives.” wrote Performer Magazine.

A long awaited follow up came in 2020 with the release of their second album, Vampire Hours on Gypsy Farm Records.

"In many ways, it's a throwback album that still manages to look to the future." said Athens News Matters (NPR)

In August of 2022, The Humms released their third album titled, Pelzer Fuck Club, on the Gypsy Farm label.

Produced by Skud Harris, the offering was called "Compelling, enthralling, ominous, & at times hypnotic" by Record Plug magazine.
