The Omsk State Russian Folk Choir was founded in 1950 by Елена Калугина, a musician, researcher of the song traditions of the Siberian region and promoter of folk culture.The Chorus was in the beginning established and headed by Елена Калугина and Юрий Юровский.
From 1961-1994 it was headed by Георгий Пантюков.
