In 1973, a group of students from the Gheorghe Dima Conservatory in Cluj, Romania formed the band called Experimental Quintet. Their repertoire consisted of original compositions and belonged to the progressive jazz-rock genre. The well-known formula from that time was: Eugen Tunaru (keyboards), Valentin Farcaș (guitar), Nicolae Bucaciuc (bass), Nicolae Delioran (drums), Gheorghe Marcovici (flute). Although after graduation group members of Experimental Q. parted, the band reformed under the name Experimental Q2, with Valentin Farcaș as the only original member. In this new formula, Experimental Quintet 2 was: Valentin Farcaș (guitar), Johann Anton German (piano), Vasile Bârsan (drums, percussion), Ioan Kovacs (drums, percussion), Ionel Radosav (bass, violin). Experimental Q, in both formulas, recorded on the radio and for TV, but did not release any official album before 1989. The only track that appeared on a disc before the fall of communism was the song ''Flori'' (Flowers) released on ''Various - Formații De Muzică Pop (1)'', at Electrecord in 1975.

'Experimental Quintet - Atlantis'' is the first and only official album of the famous “progressive” band Experimental Q, with: Eugen Tunaru (keyboards), Valentin Farcaș (guitar), Nicolae Bucaciuc (bass) and Dominic Csergo (drums). The album is built on the repertoire performed by Experimental Quintet, reworked and remixed at their meeting from 2010 and includes songs such as ''Quintet No 2'', ''Memories Of The Future'', ''Giordano Bruno'' and others.
