Fesu

Real name: Yusef Cross

Effective period / Period of releases: 1989 - 1998

Yusef Cross, who later changed his name to Yusef Farid Muhammad, is a rapper from the neighborhood of Greenspoint in North Houston, TX. He started under the moniker Fesuy 20/20 (Fesuy being his first name backwards) in the late 80's & then shortened his stage name. His lyrics were a mix of street subject matters and social & political concerns including references to Nation Of Islam.

After several singles in the late 80's & early 90's, he released his debut EP in 1993 through Fang Records, entitled "Blind Cripple & Crazy", which is very good & received a 4 Mics & rave reviews in The Source (though there are rumors of a bribe that could have been paid to have such great comments).

Fesu then signed to Continuum Records & put out in 1994 his first full length album, "War With No Mercy" that roughly contains his early 90's songs. It was followed by 2 other albums, "Life Goes On" in 1996 (which features K-Rino & A.C. Chill among others) & "The Game" in 1998. All those releases are regarded as local classics & go for a high price.

Then Fesu vanished after a last appearance on Stick's album "The Man & His Music", released in 2000. In 1998, The Source mentioned that he was in a witness protection program...
