"Dominica Y Su Conjunto" was the ensemble of the singer Leandro Roque, known artistically as Dominica (6). Born in the Dominican Republic, Leandro Roque came to New York from the village of "La Vega Real" (Santo Domingo Province) in 1954. He became a successful singer of merengues, cumbias, guarachas, boleros, and other Latin styles, recording for Mary Lou Records, a Bronx label founded by Ismael Maisonave. He has performed in Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela. He still lives in the Bronx, New York and performs at senior centers.
