The Radio Éireann Symphony Orchestra (Irish: Ceolfhoireann Shiansach Radio Éireann) was the new symphony orchestra of Radio Éireann (Radio Ireland), the Irish broadcasting authority in 1948. It emerged from the earlier radio orchestra. In 1961, when public television was introduced in Ireland, Radio Éireann was renamed to Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) and its symphony orchestra was renamed to RTÉ Symphony Orchestra. In 1989, the orchestra was expanded and renamed the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland). In 2005 it was again renamed to RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.
