Biography
Robert White
Real name: Robert White Jr.
Effective period / Period of releases: 1977 - 1995
English composer of the Renaissance period (c. 1538 – 1574).He is generally considered to be the composer of a large number of Latin motets and services, English anthems, and other works, and there is evidence he was an accomplished director and composer. White was a Catholic English composer whose liturgical music to Latin texts is considered particularly fine. His surviving works include a setting of verses from Lamentations, and instrumental music for viols. He was most probably the son of Robert White Sr., an organ builder in Oxford; Robert Jr., is mentioned as "young Whyte" in a transaction register of the church-wardens' books of the Parish of Saint Andrews in Holborn, London.
