Humberto Jauma

Real name: Humberto Jauma Peñalver

Birth: 12/17/1898. Death: 6/22/1971. Born in Santiago de Las Vegas, Cuba. At the age of fifteen he played tres in the Sonora Santiaguera sextet, then went on as a guitarist to the Mi Tienda sextet and, later, as a bass player to the Azul Tropical ensemble.
In 1930, he was in Mexico playing double bass in popular orchestras and began as a composer under the stimuli of Lara and singer Eva Garza. Hence a series of popular successes emerged: “En mi memoria”, “Ni novia ni luna", “Qué más da, “Solo por rencor”, “No importa corazón”, “Hay algo en ti”, “Feliz Navidad”, “Si no vuelves, “Noche y día”, “Mi ocaso” (canciones); “Estas como mango” (mambo); “No te quedes mirando” (Chachachá); “Rumberito soy yo” (guaracha).
