Saïno

Effective period / Period of releases: 1982

Members: Pierre Ortion, Philippe Lainé, André Griffon, Rémi Bouchaud, Didier Lainé, Jean-Yves Bouchaud

French rock band, from Cholet (rooted in the bands Poseidon and Dionysos circa 1972-74) becoming Saïno in 1976 with the core of Rémi Bouchaud (guitar) and the Lainé brothers constant through to the present. The 1982 debut LP showcased them as instrumental progressive rock in the typically French style as pioneered by bands like Shylock or Wlud, whereas the second "Bitume Rouge" added French vocals for a sound closer to Ange or Mona Lisa..
The contemporary version of the band has little in common with their former incarnation musically, largely playing a repertoire of English rock/pop standards.
