Singing group that originated in 1971 in the Department of Christian Education of the Free Methodist Church (headquartered in Winona Lake, Indiana). The group was operated as a ministry of the church and headed up by Karl Somerville, himself an original Free Spirit member according to the liner notes of Free Spirit - Follow Jesus. It consisted of a rotating group of college students chosen to be youth representatives for the church as they presented concerts domestically and internationally.
