Founded 1976 as Caufner-Collection in the former German Democratic by the four sisters Irina, Iris, Isa and Juliane Kaufner. When Iris Kaufner left the formation shortly afterwards the reamining three sisters changed the name to Die Caufner-Schwestern and performed since 1977 as vocal trio. Isa Kaufner left 1980. Juliane und Irina continued touring the GDR as duo and released as last single called „Man weiß ja nie“. Juliane Kaufner changed her name to Juliane Albrecht when she married music producer Klaus Peter Albrecht. Irina Kaufner died of cancer in 2010. A fifth sister, Ilona, never worked in the music business.
