O'Leary's Irish Minstrels

Effective period / Period of releases: 1928

One of the leading Boston-based Irish American bands of the late 1920s.

O'Leary's Irish Minstrels were led by fiddler Joseph S. O'Leary. They played both traditional reels and modern songs written by Irish American composers, performing in the Irish dance halls on Boston's Dudley street and on O'Leary's own radio show on Boston's WEEI radio.

Apart from O'Leary and others on fiddle, trumpet, trombone, piano, banjo, and drums, the band featured Jerry O'Brien (1899-1968) on accordion.
