American alternative rock band from Lincoln, NE. Formed in 1984 under the name Playground. Founding members were guitarist Steven Hinrichs (in high school at the time), bassist Karl Stephen, drummer Bruce Stephen and lead singer Marty Clough. Clough left the group in 1986 to move to Minneapolis with Jon Baker replacing him. With the frontman change, the group renamed itself The Gladstones. Later, Bruce Stephen also departed due to an out of state move and Steve Schulz temporarily took his spot until Bruce rejoined. They recorded their sole release in a 9-track album named Jeremy in 1990. The group folded shortly after its release.
