Nodar Gabunia or Gabuniya (1933 – 2000) was a Georgian pianist and composer, People's Artist of the Georgian SSR (1982), head of the Tbilisi Conservatory since 1984. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and finished two classes: piano with Alexander Goldenweiser (1957) and composition with Aram Khachaturian (1962). Gabunia had been working as a guest professor at Koninklijk Conservatorium, Den Haag.

In the sixties, his piano repertoire included music by Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev and particularly Béla Bartók. Nodar Gabunia premiered Quintet for Piano and Strings by Alfred Schnittke with String Quartet Of Georgia in 1976.
