George Kerr

Real name: George Kerr Jr.

Effective period / Period of releases: 1969 - 1992

US-American singer, songwriter and producer born in Ocilla, Georgia but generally connected to the NY/NJ area. Kerr's first group was The Serenaders along with Sidney Barnes. After a stint in the military he sang lead for Little Anthony & The Imperials prior to signing a songwriting deal with Motown / Jobete and learning production in Detroit from Raynoma Liles Gordy. After his deal with Motown Kerr returned to New Jersey where he wrote and/or produced artists including Linda Jones, The Whatnauts, Manhattans, Lonnie Youngblood, The Escorts, Phyllis Hyman, Eddie Fisher, and especially for the roster of Sylvia Robinson's All Platinum. He is the father of Sandy Kerr and Tracy Kerr.
