Phil Kerr

Real name: Phillip Stanley “Phil” Kerr

American musical evangelist, pianist, and conductor, who composed over 3,000 published songs and 200 gospel hymns. Among the songs are “Melody Divine,” “I’m Glad I’m a Christian,” “This is Why I Sing,” and “I’m in Love With the Lover of My Soul.” Phil is the brother of Esther Kerr Rusthoi. Born 1906 Died 1960 Laguna Beach, California.
In 1945, Kerr started the Monday Musicals, a multitalented musical show with Audrey Mieir in Pasadena, California, which he directed for 16 years. These were first held in the Shakespeare Club in Pasadena, and later in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The show featured a wide range of Christian vocalists and instrumentalists, including the very popular Phil Kerr's Harmony Chorus.
