East german harpsichordist, born in Mühlhausen (Thuringia / German Democratic Republic).
He studied at Kirchenmusikschule in Halle (Saale) and at Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar. He was first recognised by a wider audience 1964 at international Bach contest in Leipzig. He studied further under Hans Pischner and Isolde Ahlgrimm as well as under dutch harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt.
