Giovanni Jaconelli

Real name: Giovanni Antonio Jaconelli

Swedish clarinetist, born 14 February 1921 in Gothenburg, died 25 December 2007 in Stockholm.

He was of Italian descent. As a ten-year-old, Jaconelli moved to Söder in Stockholm, where he came in contact with the school orchestra at Katarina södra folkskola and had to start playing the clarinet, despite a reluctant music director at the school who thought he should play the flute. After Jaconelli announced that I am determined to play the clarinet, he got his way.

Together with his father, who played guitar, Jaconelli walked around farms and played before he got a contract with Nöjesfältet at Djurgården. He was employed by the Swedish Radio's entertainment orchestra and appeared frequently on radio and also on TV, best known from Café Sundsvall with Gunnar Arvidsson and from Vitabergsparken with Carl Anton (Carl Anton i Vita Bergen). He has also toured in Sweden, as well as in the United States, where he played in symphony orchestras.
