Eugene Monroe Bartlett

Real name: Eugene Monroe Bartlett

Gospel singer, writer, teacher, editor, and publisher (De­cem­ber 24, 1885, Waynes­ville, MO—Jan­u­a­ry 25, 1941, Si­lo­am Springs, AS).

He taught sing­ing schools through­out the south­ern Unit­ed States, found­ed the Hart­ford Mu­sic Com­pa­ny in Hart­ford, Ar­kan­sas, and was ed­it­or of the mu­sic mag­a­zine Her­ald of Song. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1979.

His son Eu­gene, Jr. (Gene Bartlett), was al­so a hymn­ist and com­pos­er.
