Mohombi, born on October 17, 1985 in the Republic of Zaire (After 1997 renamed to, the Democratic Republic of the Congo) to a Swedish mother and a Congolese father, first grew up in Kinshasa, the Republic of Zaire, and after his family's emigration to Sweden, both in Kista and Norsborg, Stockholm, Uppland.

Mohombi was a co-founder of La Clique Music in the early 2000s and, since 2012, he is one of the three directors and co-owners at the record company and publisher La Clique Music International Ltd..
