Jan Liljekvist

Real name: Jan Anders Frits Liljekvist

Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist, born December 11, 1962, in Stockholm, Sweden.

He started out learning to play wind instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone) at an early age and found himself playing in big bands, marching bands, chamber and symphony orchestras before diving into the rock scene.

During the 80s he toured and recorded in Sweden and Europe, singing and playing guitar with the garage-rock group The Shoutless.

In the 90's he switched over to the violin and formed the group Två Fisk Och En Fläsk, releasing two CDs of medieval Swedish folk music mixed with his own compositions before joining the black-metal group Månegarm in 1998.

Jan Liljekvist has studied electro-acoustic composition, is a member of the Society of Swedish Composers and The Great Learning Orchestra over and above making live-electronics together with author/playwrite/singer Mats Rosén and sound and sculpture installations with other artists.
